WEEK 66

Lani in Omaha, like the French Braid Lan!

Lan, Sister Fuller, Sister Nelson, and Sister Page (Page and Fullmer are the Sister Trainers)

Hi family!
This week was wonderful. We saw miracles like nothing else! We had exchanges with Sister Page and Sister Fuller...our sister trainer leaders :) They are both incredible and magnify their assignment! Sister Page and I got to spend the day together. It was wonderful being with her again. I sure do love that sister. She is bold! but she loves the people so much. This is something I can totally work on!
Heather and her family are doing pretty well. They were not able to make it to church this past sunday, but we are having dinner and a lesson with them tonight! We are praying it goes well!
Ron, a lost sheep that we found came to church! He is the funniest black guy I have ever met. We had a lesson with him this past week and we went with a sister from our ward, Sister Smith. We all sat down and he said the prayer to begin the lesson. In the prayer he said, "we are grateful to be here with three vanillas and one chocolate!" baha! I just about lost it! He was talking about us and then himself. So he came to church and everyone welcomed him in! He felt right at home and even received a blessing from some of the priesthood holders. I love the members so much! They have such a desire to do the Lords work!
Sister Nelson is wonderful. I have been learning so much from her. She really is training me!
I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful that we know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us no matter what! I know Jesus Christ is our Savior. He knows us perfectly and understands us perfectly and loves us perfectly. I love Him.
I love you all and hope you have an incredible week! Keep seeing those miracles! I know if you are praying with faith to bring someone closer to Christ, He will answer your prayers.
Love,
Sister Call

WEEK 65

This week has been a week of growth and miracles!
Heather Carstens and her kids came to church yesterday! It was a miracle! Afterwards her 17 year old son said that he wants to start taking the lessons. :) Miracle!!  It was incredible to see the ward members come and support her and her kids. That made all the difference in the world. There were some other less active members that came! A couple from Jamaica :) Oh my! They are so cute and we already love them to death. We are going over to their home this week and will hopefully be able to start teaching the husband. Another miracle!
We had interviews with president weston this week. It was seriously the best interview I have had yet! I love him and Sister Weston SOOO much! I know one of the reasons I am here is because they are here :) Every time interviews role around...there is always a theme. This time it was MEMBERS MEMBERS AND MEMBERS! :) He talked all about how members are the finders and we are the teachers...but first we need to help the members become finders. I have been thinking a lot about it. Would I rather see tons of baptisms with not much support from the ward? Or would I rather see a ward become a finding ward and see their friends be baptized and stay? I choose the second option! This ward has so much potential! We are praying to gain their trust and work hand in hand to do the Lords work! Building a foundation that will last is so much more worth it!
Sister Nelson is doing so great! She is such a hard working missionary and she really is here for the right reasons. I love her!
We have been going out with lots of sisters from our ward. We always see miracles when we are out with members. Its just how Heavenly Father wants it!
I got a letter from mom the other day and there was one part that I loved! She talked about how it doesn't matter what we want or who we want to be....all that matters is Heavenly Fathers will! I know that is true. We have been praying a lot more lately ( our goal is at least 30x a day!) because we want to do Heavenly Fathers will....not ours! This is His work and we need to council with Him in all our doings because He knows best. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father to listens to every prayer and answers each one.
I love you all! Have an amazing week!

Week 64

Hello family and friends!
This week has been a roller coaster! We began the week with going out with a bunch of sisters to downtown omaha! It is exciting being back in the city again. :)
We started praying at the beginning of the week to be able to set someone for baptism.
Do you remember Heather Carstens? She is a less active in our ward and we had started meeting with her. We took her family to the mormon trail center the week before and had a wonderful experience. We had invited Roger, her husband to take the lessons. He was pretty hesitant. Well, we went tuesday night for our lesson with a member from our ward and GUESS WHAT!? Heather and her entire family were sitting around ready for the first lesson! WHHAAAA!!?? Can you say miracle? We started teaching the Restoration and the spirit was so strong. Roger never grew up in any church and didn't know how to pray. We were able to teach him how to pray. :) Soo...near the end of the lesson, I have a thought about baptism and BAM! Sister Nelson begins...."Roger, as you come to know these things are true...will you follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by someone holding the priesthood authority from God?" and Roger said YES! I am SO grateful for the spirit. What a blessing!
The ward is amazing. We are seeing miracles everyday! We have limited miles which has forced us to walk and utilize the members. This has been a blessing because we have been able to develop friendships with members and hopefully gain some of their trust. We have been praying a lot!
We were out with a ward missionary yesterday, Sister Staley. She is my favorite! No joke. At the end of the day as we were driving home talking to sister Staley, we realized that it is so true...when members and missionaries work together the work happens! Miracles happen! This is Heavenly Fathers will. He is still a God of miracles! We need that faith and trust in what our prophet has said.
Sister Nelson is so great! We are growing a lot together. My goal this week is patience. haha! Heavenly Father has been letting my see a lot of my weaknesses. I am grateful though, because i want to become more like my Savior.
I was reading about Anson Call the other night. Someone gave me his conversion story. It is amazing and has made me soo grateful to be a Call!
The best part is....He became very close with joseph Smith after his conversion to the gospel. Right before Joseph left for Carthage jail, he told Anson..."Be faithful and true, and you shall have your reward. Farewell." This has become my thing lately! Be faithful and true! I am grateful for my ancestors. I know I am blessed because Anson was faithful and true. We are apart of his reward!

I love you all dearly! I know this gospel is the only way to lasting happiness. Jesus Christ is our Savior and this is His work! Be faithful and true and we will have our reward!
With all my love,
Sister Call

Week 63

What a week!

We have both learned so much! Sister Nelson is a great missionary. She is here to work! I love her.
So much happened this week, I am not sure where to begin....
We do not have many miles, so we are walking a lot! This has been really great to just talk to everyone on the street and try to find people to teach! ISister Nelson blew out her knee during high school so she has a brace that she is going to have to wear for the rest of her life. It has been a growing experience for both of us.
Yesterday, we had a really neat experience. Sister Nelsons knee had been hurting her and we started to talk about how Heavenly Father gives us weaknesses and experiences to help us rely on the Savior and become like Him. We talked about the power of positivity. We laughed as we talked about putting her knee in "time out" whenever it starts hurting.
I am just so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knows us perfectly. This morning I was praying and just asked Heavenly Father what He wanted me to do/change...I got this answer.

D&C 123:17

  • Doctrine and Covenants
Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.
AH! It was exactly what I needed. I know this is true! It is my new favorite scripture.

We have been busy this week still trying to meet all the members! This has been a focus of ours because the members are the best way to find people to teach.
We have met some really neat part member families and less active members. We are currently working with a lady named Heather Cardstens. We got to go to the trail center with her family last week. She came with her husband who is not a member and children. The sister missionary who took us on tour shared with us that not too long ago, she lost 4 brothers in a car accident. She testified of the Savior and the healing power of the atonement. Roger, the husband, felt the spirit! Hopefully we can start teaching him. Heather has been reading the book of mormon and will text us for more chapters to read! LOVE HER!
This work is the greatest work in the world! Eternal families are where it is at! I love you all dearly. Keep up the great work and keep inviting! I am still praying for the Olsons! We just gotta have faith. :)

Love you tons!
Love,
Sister Call
