Lani's Letter July 8 2013 Week 10

I LOVE all the pictures! How fun! Family Reunion!! I am so glad that everyone was safe and nobody died. Always good to hear.
Mom- you are in charge next year?? AWESOME!! Just don't get too stressed about it and do something simple.
This week has really been great. We had a long leadership training with President Weston along with all the Zone Leaders. President talked to us all about members. He wants all companionship's in the mission to live with members. WHOO!! Living with members is HUGE! You have a friend in the ward, lots of food and someone to always come home to. There are 186 new missionaries coming to the Omaha Nebraska mission in the next couple of months and President has instructed all the Stake Presidents to find members housing/Less active housing for all of them. It is going to be a huge task, but it is going to change the entire culture of the missionary work here.
Yesterday at fast and testimony meeting, one of our investigators, Kim Stallings (by the way, she is getting baptized on July 20th!! ahh!) she was sitting there listening to the testimonies. She turned to me and just looked at me for a second. Her eyes were bright and immediately I knew that she wanted to share what she knows to be true. I asked her if she wanted to go. She said yes, but only if I went with her. OF COURSE KIM!! We went up. I went first, sat down and she timidly walked to the podium. She has been working on modesty by the way. She is beautiful! She got up and told everyone that Jesus Christ didn't give up on her, so He won't give up on you. He won't.  3 Nephi 9:14. "Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you." President told us the secret to loving the people more. He asked me, what is the first great commandment....Love God. What is the Second? Love thy neighbor as thyself. President then said, "You can't love your neighbor, if you don't first love yourself." In order to love ourselves, we need to know who we are. I am a child of God. Do I really understand that? I don't know that I do yet. Obviously I don't because I struggle loving myself and just being myself. Sister Stahl, a woman from my ward said to me in response to a question, "I know who I am. I am a daughter of God! What else do I need?" I hope you all know who you are. You are children of of loving God who watches after you, desperately wants to bless you and is pleading with all of us to return to be with him. I love my Heavenly Father. It's scary mom because some of the greatest will fall in the end, but I promise that as we continue to do the small things and always remember that we are God's children, we will make it! Together! As a family!! What else do we all want?? My perspective is definitely changing. I would much much MUCH rather have a relationship with God and keep my covenants and be happy then be a Broadway actress. PHEW! I SAID IT!! PRAY THAT IT WILL STICK YOU GUYS!! HAHA!
I love you all. Be good and always do the small things. Mom- nice work! Give out the Jesus the Christ. Was that it? Sorry. Have a fantastic week!
Thanks for calling bro. claypool mom. Also- that is a fantastic scripture! But I had one in mind...I just can't remember it this second! AHH! I KNOW I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATING! HAHA! You can just use that one and I will tell my children someday that my mother picked the scripture! Then I will teach them about obedience to their mother. :) Brilliant Idea-I know. I hope you are all safe and well! I am going to be in Souix city Iowa for a couple days this next week! YES!
Love you tons and tons! Keep up the missionary work! It's not leaving!
